Olney,
Oliver (1796-?), born at Eastford, Windham County, Connecticut;
residing at Shalersville, Portage County, Ohio, in 1830. Married Else Johnson,
1820. President of the teachers quorum in Kirtland, 1836-38. Excommunicated at
Nauvoo for claiming to be a prophet, 1842. Published an expose on polygamy in
St. Louis, 1845. Died in Iowa. By 1850 Olney children were living with their
maternal grandfather, John Johnson, in Hiram, Portage County, Ohio, indicating
Oliver’s possible death before that time. [PJSv2]

Amos (1792-1847), was born in 1792 in Tyringham, Massachusetts. Moved
to New York by 1830. Accompanied Joseph Smith and others to Michigan in Oct.
1834. Sent with J. P. Green on a mission to the Senecas in May 1835. Was
ordained a seventy in Kirtland in 1836. Married a woman named Elizabeth, who
died in 1837. Married Dorcas Sekins (Seekings) on Aug. 23, 1837. Served a
mission with Brigham Young to the Indians. Served a mission to New York.
Excommunicated in 1838. Died in 1847. [McLellin]

Massachusetts. Living in Olean, Cattaraugus County, New York, in 1830. He was a
member of the seventies quorum at Kirtland, Ohio, and worked on the temple. His
wife, Elizabeth, died in 1837. Excommunicated from the Church, 1838. [PJSv1]

Roger (1799-1851), born in 1799 in New York. Brother of Amos Orton.
Married Clarissa Bicknell around 1822. Was baptized in the early 1830s. Marched
in Zion’s Camp in 1834. Accompanied Joseph Smith and others to Michigan in Oct.
1834. As an elder, transported the Twelve to Fairport, Ohio, in May 1835.
Served on Kirtland High Council in 1835. Saw an angel during the 1836 Kirtland
Temple dedication. Became one of the seven presidents of the Seventy in 1845.
Died in Lee County, Iowa, in 1851. [McLellin]
Orton,
Roger (1799-1851), born in New York. Brother of Amos R. Orton. Married
Clarissa Bicknell about 1822. Joined the Church in the early 1830s. Participant
in Zion’s Camp, 1834. Appointed to the high council at Kirtland, Ohio, 1835.
Excommunicated in 1837. In 1850 living in Lee County, Iowa, where he died.
