Stephen D. Houston will be coming to BYU on Monday, October 28, to present “Recovering a Lost World: The LiDAR Revolution and Ancient Maya Warfare.” It will be at 4 pm in the Gordon B. Hinckley Alumni Center at BYU. The event is sponsored by the BYU Department of Anthropology and Book of Mormon Central. The lecture will be videotaped and posted later on Book of Mormon Central.

Houston is a renowned scholar in study of the Maya civilization. He is the author of “Classic Maya Religion: Beliefs and Practices of an Ancient American People,” in BYU Studies 38, no. 4. With Michael D. Coe, Houston has published The Maya, now in its ninth edition.
