Although the Smith family has received ample attention, almost nothing has been written concerning the place where they resided. Five generations of the Smith family lived in Topsfield, Massachusetts, before Joseph Smith, Jr. was born, and yet we know very little about this significant town. Does not the place have something to tell us concerning the Smith family and indeed the Prophet himself?
