The Family: A Proclamation to the World – “The Family Is Central to the Creator’s Plan”

December 13, 2021 to December 19, 2021

The Family Proclamation is about the plan of salvation as much as it is about the family. Understanding the principles taught helps us see with eternal perspective.

“The Principles of the Proclamation: Ten Years of Hope,” Richard G. Wilkins, BYU Studies 44 (2005)

In 1996, Richard Wilkins attended a United Nations conference and spoke about the need for stable families. He used concepts from the Proclamation on the Family and urged international lawmakers to remember the importance of marriage, family, and faith. He helped create the World Family Policy Center, which has since closed, at BYU’s J. Reuben Clark Law School. Wilkins explains the connection between international law, family policy, and the efforts of legal scholars and academic centers.

“Stand Strong against the Wiles of the World,” President Gordon B. Hinckley, General Relief Society Meeting 1995

President Hinckley encourages the sisters to nurture children and help them establish good lives. This is the talk in which he presents the Family Proclamation.
