The Silver Connection

A Review of How to Prepare for the Coming Crash

Review

BYU economics professor Larry T. Wimmer discusses Robert Preston’s book How to Prepare for the Coming Crash, which theorizes a conspiracy by the world’s bankers which would cause the worst depression imaginable, leading to total collapse and anarchy. Preston advocated ten steps for families to be prepared for the crash, including moving to rural retreats and investing wealth in silver bullion. In addressing growing concerns over the book, Wimmer seriously considers its sources, predictions, prescriptions, and assumptions. While some of the recommendations given in The Coming Crash are smart living practices that have been advocated by others before, Wimmer alleges that enough people following some of the plans would be enough to bring the country into a severe depression, without the aid of “a super conspiratorial union of bankers.”
