The first book to be published by Brigham Young University's Museum of Art is a result of that museum's inaugural exhibit, The Etruscans: Legacy of a Lost Civilization. John Hall has brought together fourteen essays presented by international scholars at the symposium that Hall organized in conjunction with the exhibition. The essays include historical, archaeological, literary, and art history topics in the pre-Roman-Etruscan, the Roman-Etruscan, and the post-Roman eras.
The handsome volume is an effort worthy of the quality of the exhibit that gave it birth. From its beautifully designed dust jacket through the numerous dramatic and richly colored illustrations, Etruscan Italy is itself a work of art.
