Fred Woods Presentation, Nov. 7
Author Fred Woods will discuss his new book Melting the Ice: A History of Latter-day Saints in Alaska. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 3-4 pm, in room B-192, JFSB, BYU campus. The event is sponsored by the Charles Redd Center for Western Studies, BYU Religious Education, and Education in Zion. The book was published by BYU Studies this year.
The Church came to Alaska around 1900; the influence of Church members is seen through their humanitarian service, family history centers, and community projects. This story tells of their faith and hard work while living in that cold, vast land.
The presentation will be videotaped and posted in coming weeks. In the meantime, you can view the video accompanying this book at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubREMgRlIq4.
