The following list, organized chronologically, reflects city lot filings on “Plat A,” the area first chosen for city expansion after initial settlement on the “Old Fort” site, itself later replaced by the more permanent remove to an area designated “Plat B” (see app. 9). According to Deed Book A, Iron County Recorder’s Office, from which the entries below are taken, each lot was ½ acre in size (4 by 20 rods in measurement). Several of the entries merely note “fees paid” in lieu of the actual date. Entries shown here occur between 1853 and 1855; original spellings and abbreviations are retained. The sequence in which they appear in the deed book is also retained, even though dates are occasionally nonconsecutive.
