1 John 1

₁ We proclaim to you what was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have beheld and our hands have handled concerning the Word of life— ₂ for the life was manifested, and we have seen and we testify and we proclaim to you the eternal life that was with the Father and was revealed to us— ₃ what we have seen and we have heard, that you also might have fellowship with us. Our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ. ₄ We are writing these things that our joy may be full.

₅ This is the message that we have heard from Him and we proclaim to you: God is light and there is no darkness in Him at all. ₆ If we say, “we have fellowship with Him,” and yet we walk in darkness, we lie and we do not act in the truth. ₇ If we walk in the light, as He Himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses¹ us from every sin. ₈ If we say, “we have no sin,” we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. ₉ If we confess our sins, He who is faithful and just will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. ₁₀ If we say, “we have not sinned,” we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
