George W. E. Nickelsburg

A graduate of Concordia Seminary in St. Louis and Harvard Divinity School, George W. E. Nickelsburg is Professor Emeritus at the University of Iowa, where he taught New Testament and ancient Judaism for thirty-one years. In addition to teaching undergraduates, supervising a dozen doctoral dissertations, and chairing the university’s Department of Religious Studies for five years, he collaborated in the development of public programs on the arts and humanities. The bibliography of his published works of books, journal articles, dictionary and encyclopedia entries, and book reviews runs to more than two hundred. Having completed his two-volume commentary on the Book of Enoch, he has turned his scholarly interests to a history of his family, which he has tracked back to the 1600s, 1500s, and 1400s. He currently resides in Seattle.
