Gordon A. Madsen

Gordon A. Madsen is a retired attorney. He is the author of “Joseph Smith’s 1826 Trial: The Legal Setting,” BYU Studies 30, no. 2 (1990): 91. He is currently one of the editors working on the legal documents to appear in Joseph Smith Papers, forthcoming. The author wishes to express particular gratitude to Max H Parkin, Richard L. Anderson, and Alexander L. Baugh, all of the Joseph Smith Papers project, and Kenneth H. Winn, Missouri State Archivist, for their generous sharing of sources and insights, which, of course, does not absolve the author from full responsibility for the content of this article, which is duly assumed.
