Thomas J. Lefler

Thomas J. Lefler is an administrator in the Department of Theatre and Media Arts at Brigham Young University, where he both teaches and facilitates student and professional production. This article builds upon his earlier study, “In Search of a Transcendental Film Style: The Cinematic Art Form and the Mormon Motion Picture” (master’s thesis, Brigham Young University, 1996). Lefler has been active in the development of film and television features, such as the ten-part educational series Ancestors and The Call of Story: An American Renaissance, both for PBS. Most recently he executive-produced the documentary Sisterz in Zion (2006).
