AdamantineToo hard to cut, break, or pierce; having the hardness or luster of a diamond.
AgueIntermitting fever with cold and hot fits.
Allopathic handsOf or relating to the practice of allopathy; method of treating disease.
AlpatcasFine wool made from alpaca hair.
AlumMineral salt with an acid taste.
Animal magnetismStudy of health and life energy (often through hypnosis and other non-verbal methods) that resides in bodies of animate beings.
Annual plantsPlants that have a one year duration.
Antimonial wineUsed for medicinal purposes; induces vomiting.
Arrow rootUsed for extracting virus caused by poisoned arrows.
AugerTool to bore holes.
 
BalsamResinous juice with a mixture of oil; contains benzoic acid.
BastardFlat file used to remove metal.

Gutta percha goodsCoagulated latex of a tree; resembles rubber.

Harness gallsPlaques of fibrous tissue; formed where the harness rubs on the animal.
HartshornAntlers of a male deer; used as a source of ammonia and smelling salts.

Hollow wareMetal tableware; such as bowls, pitchers, teapots, and trays.
Horizontal ploughingCreated by using a "rafter level" plow; lays the sides of hills in horizontal beds about six feet wide with hollows or water furrows in between.
Horse raspTool; used for filing and shaping horses' hooves before shoeing.
Hyson teaTea with a greenish-yellow color.
 
Index platePlate perforated with rows of equally spaced, numbered holes; used as a guide for indexing work in a print shop.
